  3. Sexual inhibition- often experience anguish and frustration, and as a result, tend to avoid sexual interaction.


What are the Types of Premature Ejaculation?

A few types of premature ejaculation include:

  1. Lifelong or Primary. After the first sexual contact, premature ejaculation lasts for the rest of one's life.

  2. Acquired or Secondary. After past sexual encounters without ejaculation issues, acquired premature ejaculation develops.

Premature ejaculation treatment depends upon its cause.PE is a common problem for men. It's defined as the inability to control when and how often you ejaculate. It can happen before, during, or after sex. If you're experiencing premature ejaculation, there are things you can do to improve your chances of having sex that is comfortable and successful like behavioral therapy, medications, and surgery.


Lifestyle changes:

Pelvic floor exercises like Male Kegel exercises target muscles in the male pelvic floor. Having weak pelvic floor muscles may make it more difficult to postpone ejaculation. Kegel exercises for the pelvic floor can aid in strengthening these muscles.



Behavioral therapy:

Behavioral therapy is a type of psychotherapy that aims to help people change their behaviors. It can be used to treat a range of mental health conditions, including premature ejaculation. Behavioral therapy for premature ejaculation typically involves learning how to delay orgasm by using different techniques such as the stop-start method or the squeeze technique. The therapist will also help you identify any triggers that may cause you to prematurely ejaculate and work on ways to avoid them.


SQUEEZE TECHNIQUE:

  1. Start engaging in sexual activities and arousing the penis as soon as you feel ready to ejaculate.

  2. The head and shaft of your penis can then be squeezed by either you or your companion. Squeeze for a few seconds more till the urge to ejaculate disappears.

  3. If necessary, repeat the squeezing procedure.


Barrier method:

Condoms :The penis may become less sensitive after using condoms, which may assist postpone ejaculation.


Medications:

Topical anesthetics

Premature ejaculation is sometimes treated with creams, gels, and sprays that contain numbing agents like benzocaine, lidocaine, or prilocaine. They might make both couples feel less emotion and pleasure during sexual activity.


Oral Medications

1.Antidepressants

Premature ejaculation is treated with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), an antidepressant. Sertraline , paroxetine , citalopram , escitalopram , fluoxetine, and escitalopram are examples of SSRIs.

Clomipramine, a tricyclic antidepressant is also used sometimes if SSRI's are ineffective.

Nausea, sweating, tiredness, and diminished sex drive are possible side effects of antidepressant therapy.


2.Opoid Analgesic

like the drug tramadol is used sometimes. Adverse effects could include nausea, headaches, fatigue, and vertigo.


3.Phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors

Premature ejaculation may be aided by several erectile dysfunction drugs. These medications include vardenafil, sildenafil , tadalafil , and avanafil .


4.Newer treatment under trials
Modafinil

It is mainly used in Narcolepsy which is a sleeping disorder common in obese patient with OSA (obstructive sleep apnea).

Silodosin

It is a drug used in male Prostate gland enlargement , also known as BPH (benign prostatic hypertrophy)

Onabotulinumtoxin A

Commonly known as Botox, it is a revolutionary drug which is used to treat neuro-muscular disorders and in cosmetic therapies. The possibility of treating premature ejaculation by administering Botox to the muscles involved is being investigated by researchers.


What are the complications of Premature Ejaculation?
